HB 2656 Vote May Happen Today!

TRTA Needs You to Call Now

The vote on HB 2656 by Representative Doug Miller, which adds an additional retiree to the TRS Board and provides for a direct election process, may be presented for a vote in the Texas House today, Thursday, May 7.

TRTA members, please call your state representative right now and ask them to vote “YES” for HB 2656.

TRTA’s toll-free “Contact Your Legislator” hotline is 1.888.674.3788, which connects you directly with the Capitol switchboard.  The person answering your call will assist if you are unsure who your state representative is.

It is imperative, though, that TRTA members call now!  TRTA must makes its voice heard loud and clear.  Let your legislators know that more accountability at TRS starts with strengthening the board by adding a retiree and giving members the opportunity to elect their trustee representatives directly.  Let’s light up the phones at the Texas Capitol today.
