TRTA offers answers to questions being asked by retired and active school personnel

TRTA is receiving many phone calls about how the various provisions of SB 1691 will be implemented and will they have an impact on their retirement situation.  In addition, TRTA is also being asked about the reasoning behind SB 1691 and how will it help the TRS pension trust fund.  These questions are addressed in this special update.

TRS Updates on SB 1691

The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is the authority on interpreting the provisions laid out in SB 1691.  It is TRS legal counsel that will advise the TRS Board of Trustees on how these provisions should be interpreted and implemented.  TRS is regularly updating this information and the most recent update can be obtained by clicking here.
