TRS Provides Opportunity for Direct Communication to Members
 
Pension Fund Teleconference for ALL Interested Participants
 
The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) will host a conference call with Mr. Britt Harris, TRS Chief Investment Officer, tomorrow at 4:00 PM. This conference call is open to anyone interested in the current market happenings and the impact it may have on TRS. More information is provided below.
 
This is a tremendous opportunity for any interested person to get a direct message from TRS about these important issues from the convenience of your home and at no cost to you.
 
Teleconference instructions are provided below. TRTA is interested in receiving your feedback on the information presented by TRS in tomorrow’s phone call, as well as if you believe this type of direct communication is valuable to you. Please feel free to send your comments to tim@trta.org.

Dear Members,
 
As part of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas’ commitment to enhancing direct and candid communications with members, TRS is launching a new quarterly conference call with leaders of the investment and benefits staff.  Given the recent turbulence in financial markets and yesterday’s news about Lehman Brothers filing for bankruptcy and Merrill Lynch being acquired by Bank of America, TRS believes this is an important time to immediately begin this more direct communications with you. 
 
The first call has been scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, September 17 at 4 pm (CDT) and will be led by TRS Chief Investment Officer Britt Harris. TRS realizes that this is short notice and may limit live participation in the call, but we have made plans for arecording of the call to be available on the TRS website.  We’re hopeful you can accommodate tomorrow’s live call but, if not, please listen to the recording on our web site at your leisure: www.trs.state.tx.us
 
The format for the call will include opening comments by Britt, followed by a discussion of the most relevant questions on members’ minds.  Howard Goldman, TRS director of communications, will moderate the call.
